Training & Exercise

Training and exercise solutions

Applying our proven modeling and simulation capabilities, Northrop Grumman has consistently advanced the state-of-the-art in high-fidelity training systems and tools. America's public safety programs have relied on them for years to train everyone from first responders and dispatchers to emergency managers and planners. Our offerings include advanced training systems as well as tools for distance-learning, Internet- and CD-based training, and classroom instruction.

Meeting the homeland security challenge
Our training solutions are available now to help your emergency preparedness staff prepare for a range of homeland security needs. Here are just two of the advanced training systems we provide to address these unprecedented threats.

Nuclear Biological Chemical Casualty Training System
(NBC CTS)

Operational problem: A terrorist bio-attack exposes thousands in your metro area
Do your emergency teams have the skills they'll need? Make sure with NBC CTS, the interactive, distributed simulation system that trains emergency personnel in the management and treatment of disaster casualties, including victims of terrorist use of radiological, biological, or chemical weapons.

NBC CTS creates an environment where users acquire and practice skills they'll need in an actual NBC emergency. The software uses an intuitive desktop interface with drag-and-drop functionality that enables users to focus on the simulated event, not the software. CTS currently provides training with scenarios for several nuclear yields, three chemical agents (chlorine, mustard, and sarin), and three biological agents (botulinum, anthrax, and tularemia), as well as disease non-battle injury (DNBI), such as rabies and dysentery, and conventional casualties.

NBC CTS provides the U.S. Army Medical Department Center & School and U.S. Army Surgeon General with a distributed nuclear, biological, and chemical battlefield simulation in which players practice command and control, as well as medical skills. The simulation runs on Windows 95/98/2000/NT personal computers linked via a local area network, through dial-up, via the Internet, or using a combination of these. Users can play medical or command roles at any echelon.

Mass Casualty Operations Trainer

Operational problem: Hundreds of patients are flooding into your district's hospitals
Are you ready for today's new threats? Chemical threats like sarin. Biological threats like smallpox. And even radiological events.

Mass Casualty Operations Trainer (MCOT) allows you to practice for emergency events before they occur. Using MCOT you may simulate hundreds of casualties, each with their own signs and symptoms. Players must work together to allocate supplies, treat patients, fill out reports, and evacuate casualties.

MCOT is the only true mass casualty distance learning simulation in the world. That makes it exactly what you need:

  • Conventional, chemical, nuclear, and biological threats
  • Emergency response options planning
  • Injury and casualty status reports
  • Resource status and situation map
  • Standard office PC (Window 95, 98, 2000, or NT)
