Universal Network Communications Planner (UNCP)

Enhanced network communications planning on a laptop

Northrop Grumman’s Universal Network Communications Planner (UNCP) is everything the network manager needs to perform network communications planning from a laptop.

The UNCP offers the full-scale communications architecture planner of the Joint Interface Control Officer Support System (JSS), a U.S. DoD program of record, in the affordable convenience of a laptop computer. Using the UNCP, the network manager obtains the latest network configuration information from data repositories and creates a network communications plan.

The UNCP software enables the network manager to plan the communications architecture around participants’ information exchange requirements. The UNCP’s planning capability is used to incorporate operational needs, terrain, gateways, and network radio frequency propagation characteristics into the architecture. With UNCP, network managers can visualize and plan the architecture, as well as calculate elements such as line-ofsight (LOS), by generating precise geographical views.

Once the architecture is defined, the network manager can use the UNCP to generate the OPTASKLINK, which specifies the details of the network. The network manager can then easily share OPTASKLINK files electronically with participants.

Upgrades with appropriate NATO standards are available to international customers.
