Community Involvement

Our Focus

Northrop Grumman is recognized for technological innovation and achievement. In addition, we carry out our tradition of caring by making community involvement a priority. We are committed to national and local issues that affect the communities in which we operate and those in which we live. Our focus is building partnerships for stronger communities that improve education, human services and culture and that address diversity.

Charitable Giving

Northrop Grumman's Charitable Giving Program is committed, through dynamic community partnerships, to help address the challenges facing our community and strive to meet the diverse needs of the people of those communities-together, contributing to a better world. Innovative programs that assist our youth, health, education, human services and environmental, civic and cultural organizations are all recipients of our direct giving program.

Employee Giving

At our local Northrop Grumman Integrated Systems sites, employees give their time and money to make a difference in the communities where we work and live. Below are several of our Signature employee giving programs that employees support through creative fundraising events and activities as well as direct giving.

March of Dimes
For over 9 years, many Northrop Grumman employees and family members support the annual March of Dimes WalkAmerica charity walks around the country. WalkAmerica is one of the largest walking events in the nation and the money raised goes directly to research, education and community services to prevent birth defects, low birth weight, infant mortality and to support families of those afflicted by these tragedies.

United Way
Northrop Grumman employees contribute to United Way through convenient payroll deductions. Their mission is to provide people with a foundation of basic needs, education and financial stability by:

  1. Giving voice to pressing issues through research and advocacy
  2. Partnering with community leaders to provide solutions
  3. Engaging supporters to create measurable impact

Holiday Giving
For more than 50 years, Northrop Grumman people have donated millions of dollars in cash and gifts with the knowledge that their collective efforts put smiles on the faces of people who might have little other opportunity for enjoyment.

Educational Outreach

Northrop Grumman strives to empower our global communities through educational programs. Below are a few of our outreach programs that help students learn and appreciate math, sciences, and technology.

High School Involvement Partnership (HIP) Program
The company's High School Involvement Partnership provides local High School students with on-the-job training in more than 40 career areas at company facilities across the country. Since 1971, HIP has helped young people learn by doing. Students chosen for the HIP Program work side-by-side with Northrop Grumman employees who have volunteered to supervise, teach and provide guidance in their areas of expertise. Some HIP graduates have gone on to receive Northrop Grumman scholarships and even full-time employment at the company. Northrop Grumman's HIP has earned the most prestigious recognition given for volunteer community involvement, the President's Service Award.

National Engineers Week
Celebrated since 2001, Engineers Week has expanded to include elements of celebration, recognition, and community involvement. Events include FIRST Robotics involvement and support; on site VEX Robots competitions with local area high school students, School Visits, mentoring of local middle school students and student tours of our facilities.
